Sexual Violence Advocate

                                                                    Job Summary  


Job Title:        Sexual Violence Advocate   


FLSA:        Non-Exempt, Full-Time  


Location:        Outreach    


Position reports to: Outreach Program Manager  


Qualifications and Skills: Previous experience working with individuals in a crisis setting or social services preferred.   Bachelor’s Degree required. Professional training may be substituted for experience.  Must have a valid Florida driver’s license.  


Principal Job Duties  


  1. Conduct interviews and crisis intervention with victims of sexual violence in order to determine needs and explore options in person and over the phone.     
  2. Respond to emergency medical/forensic services and law enforcement interviews on a 24-hour basis, representing victims’ rights. 
  3. Assist victim with advocacy (arrange services to enhance recovery, assist victim with personal goals and needs, provide on-going case management)
  4. Complete victim compensation forms, assist with sexual violence injunctions, monitor case through the legal system, help prepare victims for court, attend court hearings)     
  5. Maintain counseling forms and statistics on all victims of crime in accurate, complete files.
  6. Complete monthly statistical forms.     


Secondary Job Duties  


  1. Assist in the training of volunteers for VOCA position.
  2. Attend meetings and trainings as scheduled.
  3. Report any unusual incidents or breeches in security to the outreach program manager. 
  4. Other duties as assigned by supervisor or CEO.

  • Physical Demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of the job.


               - Ability to see, sit, hear, talk, walk, stand and read.        

               - Ability to use arms, hands and fingers (mopping, sweeping, computer use, writing

                 etc.)        

               - Ability to reach, stock, climb (step stool or ladder), bend, balance, crouch, kneel and

                 crawl.       

               - Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds frequently (donations, food, babies etc.). 


  • Environmental Conditions which may be experienced are loud noise, the use of toxic or caustic chemicals (ammonia, bleach etc.), and extreme weather conditions.
