Prevention Advocate

                                                                  Job Summary  


Job Title:        Prevention Advocate   


FLSA: Exempt        Full-time  


Location:        Outreach    


Position reports to: Outreach Program Manager  


Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field preferred.  Experience in a teaching environment or training environment.   Previous experience working with individuals in a crisis setting or social services preferred.   Must have a valid Florida driver’s license.  


Principal Job Duties  


  1. Conduct interviews and crisis intervention with victims of domestic violence crimes in order to determine needs and explore options.
  2. Assess lethality and conduct safety planning with victims of crime on a case-by-case basis.
  3. Assist victim with a case plan (give information and referrals, transport to appointments).
  4. Complete victim compensation forms and legal referrals as needed and provide other information as needed.
  5. Maintain contact with other advocates regarding victims’ case plans.
  6. Maintain counseling forms and statistics on all victims of crime in accurate, complete files.
  7. Complete monthly statistical forms.   


Prevention Activities


  1. Teach dating/domestic violence prevention education in the Citrus County School System and community organizations.
  2. Participate in prevention webinars and surveys. 
  3. Keep all pre-tests, post-tests, and statistical information for prevention activities.  
  4. Facilitate Community Action Team Meetings and engage in community prevention events
  5. Provide training to school personnel and community partners on topics of teen dating violence and domestic violence.
  6. Attend Prevention Education conferences.
  7. Maintain and update Prevention Curriculum.  Provide a program to meet the needs of the children to include non-violent communication, dealing appropriately with anger, and domestic violence. 
  8. Engage in community outreach through meetings, social media, and distribution of outreach materials.  


Secondary Job Duties

 

  1. Assist in the training of volunteers for VOCA position.
  2. Attend meetings and trainings as scheduled.
  3. Report any unusual incidents or breeches in security to the Outreach program manager.  
  4. Other duties as assigned.
